While Madeira and  Santo are   inhabited and popular tourist destinations, Selvagens and Desertas are protected natural areas, with limited access for visitation.

Madeira Island has   approximately 740 km², with a population of around 260,000 inhabitants. The island's capital is Funchal, vibrant and cosmopolitan with a rich history and culture. Funchal is famous for its Madeira wines, its beautiful botanical gardens and the  colonial that characterizes many of its buildings.

Madeira Island is a popular tourist destination known for its stunning scenery,   climate and unique culture. Here are some things you can do in Madeira Island:

Walk along the levadas:the levadas are trails that follow the island's ancient irrigation channels, offering incredible views of the mountains, forests and rural landscapes. There are many trails, but some of the most popular ones include Levada do  Verde and Levada das 25 Fontes.

Visit  Botanical:located in Funchal, the Botanical Garden is one of the most popular tourist spots on the island, with a wide variety of exotic plants and panoramic views of the sea.

Explore traditional villages:Madeira Island has many picturesque villages, with stone houses and cobbled streets. Some of the most famous villages include Santana, Camacha and Porto Moniz.

Do  de : There are many companies that offer boat trips around the island, where you can see dolphins and whales or   enjoy the beautiful views of the sea.

Taste the local food:  from Madeira Island is   Portuguese and African flavors, with lots of seafood and meat dishes. Be sure to try  do caco, a kind of stone-baked  flat.

Visit  Girão:it is the second   highest in the world, with 589 meters high. It offers an impressive view of the sea and the mountains,   from the viewpoint.

Participate in local festivities:Madeira Island is famous for its festivities,   during   Christmas and New Year, when the streets of Funchal are decorated with thousands of colored lights. The   of   are also popular and are known for their colorful parades and parades.
